IMG-20170118-WA0000 - CopyWe are approaching the new nesting season of the year at Saba Asri and we expect the first nest by mid of February as always. We are very excited and hope this year can be the best season we ever had with a lot of hatchling along the process. This time around we are getting ready with many things to do, fixing our fences cleaning our ponds and refreshing our incubators. “Even though financial situation is still very challenging for us, but we keep moving on”, said Made Kikik, the founder of Saba Asri optimistically.

Today, January 18, 2017 we are welcoming volunteers a group of teenagers (30 pax) from China who help us with all cleaning activities. They are a part of the programs designed by Mitra Stata Foundation located at Kemenuh Village, Gianyar – Bali that has been started since last year. The volunteers normally spend a week with the foundation that includes two days at our sanctuary with cleaning activities and baby turtle release. Kadek Boim, the field coordinator of the program stated that, “We hope we can send more volunteers every week this year to promote Saba Asri overseas and to attract more people to take part to this social activity.

Ibu Molly and the kids

20151206_110339Ibu Molly came from Ubud with 6 elementary school children for baby turtle release. They were 10 people in total including one librarian, Ibu Molly’s assistant and a driver. The kids were having so much find and had very important information about nature specifically sea turtles. It is a critical process for kids to have this kind of education in their early age for character development. Ibu Molly was a volunteer at a local library in Ubud and the kids were rewarded a trip for their determination comes to the library almost everyday.
